Why Should I join an Alumni Chapter?

Membership in Phi Chi Theta is a lifetime experience. Alumni chapters provide the opportunity to interact with collegiate chapters in the area, conduct programs to enhance their own professionalism, and expand their network circles with other professional organizations. Upon graduation, collegiate members are encouraged to continue their participation in Phi Chi Theta as an alumni member.

Alumni Benefits

Networking

As you've probably heard...sometimes it's not what you know but who you know. Networking should be continued even after you leave college and enter the work force. The alumni chapter is a great resource to increase the size of your network. Alumni members across the U.S. work in a variety of industries, including retail, banking, computer software/hardware, insurance, telecommunications, accounting firms, financial services, marketing agencies and construction.

Social

An Alumni Chapter gives you a way to keep in touch with close fraternity friends from college. If you are new to an area, the Alumni chapter is an easy way to meet new people who have common college experiences. Alumni social events include dinners, attending sporting events and social time before meetings. In addition, alumni chapters participate in events with the local collegiate chapters such as football games and signature parties.

Education

In addition to guest speakers, such as financial planners, insurance representatives and travel agents, an Alumni chapter is a great place to share learning experiences in the work place.

Community Service

Phi Chi Theta Alumni chapters participate in numerous community service projects such as the yearly National Make A Difference Day event. Alumni chapters also assists collegiate chapters with their community service efforts.

More Benefits of being an Alumni

How Much Time is Required?

Just like in the collegiate chapter, how much you participate in chapter events and meetings is entirely up to you. Most alumni chapters have a monthly meeting to conduct chapter business or enjoy the benefits of a guest speaker. Guest speaker topics relate to new issues members are currently facing such as buying insurance, applying for a home loan, buying a car, starting a retirement fund, etc. In addition to the monthly meetings, there is usually a fun activity or worthwhile community service project every month or two. Each alumni chapter has the freedom to set their own schedule and activities, so each one is a little different. But no matter which chapter you chose, remember that for just a few hours a month you can keep in touch with collegiate friends, continue business education, network and have fun!

Examples of Social / Community Activities:

How Much Will It Cost To Continue?

Just like a collegiate membership, each Alumni member pays yearly dues of $50.00 to the national headquarters. In addition, most alumni chapters have local dues ranging from $30.00 to $50.00 per year, depending on the number of activities the chapter sponsors during the year.

How Can I Get More Information or Sign-up in an Alumni Chapter?

Find the chapter you are interested in joining and call or email the contact person listed. The contact members will tell you about upcoming chapter activities as well as more information about their specific chapter. Call soon! They look forward to hearing from you!
