A Successful Kick-Off—2006 National Chapter Meeting |
|
The Foundation kicked-off its new year of “Building Your Future” with a successful outreach campaign at the 2006 National Chapter Meeting in Richmond, VA (August 3-5). Between our presentation, alumni breakfast, and Auction and Basket Raffle the members of Phi Chi Theta saw the commitment that the Foundation has to educational advancement and scholastic recognition. We also awarded $4,000 worth of scholarships to members (see inset below) who exemplify scholastic achievement, leadership and commitment to the ideals of Phi Chi Theta.
The attendees “Got to Know Us” and to see what we’re doing to “Build the Future” during the Foundation-Fraternity Dinner and Awards Banquet. Using a PowerPoint presentation, the members learned about the mission and accomplishments of the Foundation and who the dedicated Phi Chi Theta alums and business professionals are that run the Foundation. They heard about our goals, aspirations, and plans that we have set for ourselves this year that will allow us "Build Your Future" together. A future that is a partnership between the members of Phi Chi Theta and the Foundation.
At the Alumni Breakfast, Fran Spencer our Secretary energized the alumni donor base by sharing with them what they can do to help “Build the Future” of the Foundation. We had 100% participation from all of the invited attendees, and everyone walked away with new and innovative ideas on what they can do to support the Foundation and its program.
To support our goals for “Building the Future”, the Foundation sponsored an Auction and Basket Raffle, where $4,000 worth of name-brand products and merchandise was generously donated by chapters and members of Phi Chi Theta. Items for the Silent Auction included Hand-painted Lenox figurine, Man’s gold-plated watch, and a Waterford crystal clock. Special theme–based baskets were donated for our Basket Raffle. These theme baskets included “Movie Night” which contained several new release DVDs, popcorn and candy, and an AMC Entertainment Card; “Coffee Break” which contained Starbucks products; and “Soar Above the Trees” a Hot Air Balloon Ride for Two. A Live Auction, led by first time auctioneer Greg Holden, of travel and vacation vouchers capped off the “Building Better Leaders” Awards Banquet and conclusion to a successful National Chapter Meeting. Between the silent auction, basket raffle, and live auction we raised over $2,400 for the Foundation and its programs.
The Foundation is excited about its upcoming programs which include your active participation; because “Building Your Future” includes “YOU.” Please visit our web site to learn more about what you can do to support us. |

The Pride of the Foundation—Our Scholarship Program |
|
At the cornerstone of our organization is the Phi Chi Theta Scholarship Program. At the 2006 Phi Chi Theta Fraternity National Meeting, we awarded $4,000 in scholarships to members (see inset at right) who exemplify scholastic achievement, leadership and commitment to the ideals of Phi Chi Theta. Next summer at the 2007 Regional Conferences we will be awarding $2,500 worth of scholarships – Naomi Satterfield Memorial Scholarship - $1,000; Trustees’ Scholarship in memory of Irene Meyer - $500; Anna E. Hall Memorial Scholarship - $500 and Helen D. Snow Memorial Scholarship - $500.
We want you to apply for the 2007 scholarships. Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat PDF versions of the application can be found on our web site.
If you are graduating in May of 2006, and not planning to be in school in the 2007-2008 academic year, you can be of assistance, by advertising the scholarship program to your chapter. Members will apply if the message is there from other members. Mentioning the scholarship program at every meeting will ensure a successful number of scholarship applications being sent to the Foundation.
If you do plan to apply for the scholarship applications, you should start the process as soon as your Fall grades are on your transcript, but not later than March 1. The application deadline is May 1, 2007. In processing your application, please remember that the letters of recommendation and the transcripts must be sent separately, directly to the Scholarship Chairman for them to be considered as official.
If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Mary Ellen Lewis, Scholarship Committee Chair at PCTEdScholarship@aol.com |
